Arthur

***** ADOPTED *****

Meet Arthur: He is looking for a home, either a foster home or a forever home.

Arthur is an extremely lively 2-year-old golden retriever with boundless energy and a big personality. This handsome young lad is looking for a dedicated, experienced home that’s ready to embrace his challenges and help him shine as the amazing companion he’s destined to be.

About Arthur:

• Age: 2 years old • Breed: Golden Retriever • Location: Shorne, Kent

 What Arthur Needs:

Arthur is not your typical laid-back golden. He’s full of life and loves meeting the world head-on with energy and enthusiasm. He’s a “project dog” with great potential, but he needs someone who’s ready to put in the time, patience, and experience to guide him into adulthood. Arthur can get overstimulated easily, resulting in jumping up and he can find it tricky to self regulate his energy.

Here’s what Arthur’s ideal adopter looks like:

Experience & Patience: Arthur needs someone who understands adolescent dogs and is committed to his training.
Physically Fit: Arthur is strong and energetic—perfect for an active owner who can keep up with him.
Training Commitment: • Needs training for walking on a lead (he pulls and sometimes bites the lead). • Requires recall training (currently, it’s a work in progress). • Needs help with excessive jumping, mouthing, and understanding personal space.
Time & Dedication: Arthur thrives on both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Attending training classes and providing consistent, positive reinforcement is a must.
Pet-Free Household (Mostly): Arthur needs a home without cats or children. However, he could potentially live with a calm, older dog to help him learn boundaries.
Someone at home: Arthur will need a home with owners at home prepared to make training for Arthur their new full time responsibility.

The Rewards of Arthur:

House Trained: Arthur is totally house trained.
Social: Enjoys meeting other dogs on walks and is eager to go out, though he occasionally "puts on the brakes."
Healthy & Up-to-Date: Vaccinated and in great health. Arthur has not been castrated.
Clever: With consistent training, Arthur is sure to excel—he’s a smart boy with lots of potential.

Adoption Requirements:

Adopters must be willing to travel to Shorne, Kent, a few times to meet with Arthur before taking him home. This ensures a smooth transition for this diamond in the rough.

If you’re looking for a very high-energy, fun-loving companion and have the time, patience, and skills to train Arthur, please contact maria.omalley@sgrr.org.uk giving an outline of your experience with this behaviour.
